Give up 8 things, wish to be successfull

If You Want to be Successful, You Should Give Up 8 things

The definition of being successful is quite different for all of us. Some define to be successful means mental peace, others may define it in terms of fame, power, or money. But the journey to be successful is somehow similar to all of us. Four keys that make you to be successful in life are the following:

  • Decide exactly what you want
  • Set a deadline & make a plan to meet that deadline
  • Take action on your plan
  • Resolve in advance that you will never ever give up

Sometimes, to be successful, we do not need to add some habits but to give up some of them. As we know, everyone defines success differently but there are certain things that are universal, if you give up on them, you will be successful. Some of these habits are explained below:

1. Give up on Unhealthy Lifestyle

The first and most important thing to give up the most unhealthy lifestyle that you adopted before. Because if you want to achieve something in life, everything begins with changing your lifestyle. In order to take care of your health, you have to keep only two things in mind:

be successful
  • Healthy Diet
  • Physical Activity

By focusing on these two things, you will be able to change your lifestyle and it will keep you healthy and strong.  As Jim Rohn says:

“Take care of your body. It is the only place you have to live”

2. Give up the Short-term Mindset

People who are not so ambitious set only short term plans and goals. But in order to be successful in your life, you need to give up this mindset. If you listen to the victory speeches of businessmen or of someone else, you will see that they always set long-term goals for themselves. But these long-term plans depend on the short-term habits that they had to do every day.

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough”- Mae West

3. Give up Your Excuses:

The most distinguished habit between successful and unsuccessful is responsibility. Successful people know that they are responsible for their life. Unlike weak people, they do not let their past or their weaknesses to intervene in their career. They are determined to do what they want to do and how they want to do it. They never give ways to any excuses because excuses limit and stop us from growing both professionally and personally. Giving up excuses will lead you to the successful life that you want.

As Randy Pausch said:

“It is not about the cards that you are dealt, but how you play the hand”

4. Give up Believing in Fairy Tales:

You must have to give up believing in magic bullets. Things do not happen only with thinking. One must have to take action on the plans that had taken place in one’s head. Overnight success is only a myth. Successful people know that working continuously and making improvements every day will take some time to give the desired results.

Sometimes, people believe that their talent or intelligence alone, without any effort, can help them to be successful. But, they are wrong. On the contrary, successful people invest their time, money, and abilities to achieve their goals.

5. Give up Your Need to Control Everything:

A Stoic philosopher, Epictetus, says:

“Some things are up to us, and some things are not up to us”

Most people want to do each and everything in their lives. They want power in order to control everything. This, too, is the habit of unsuccessful people. As we know, successful people are so focused and ambitious that they do not have time to think about anything except how to achieve their target.  Two things that you have to do in order to be successful in life:

  • Detach yourself from the things that you cannot control
  • Focus on the things that you can control

By focusing on these two things, you will be able to attain your desired goals quite easily.

6. Give up saying YES to everything:

You have to give up saying yes to things that do not support your goals. If you say yes to those things, you will never e able to achieve your aim as they keep you distracted from going on the right path or in other words, chasing your dream. You should say no to the activities, tasks or other kinds of demands that your friends ask for. You should focus on only accomplishing your goal.

Be successful, Learn to say no

At a certain point, you will feel sad about the sacrifice you made but at the end, when you achieve your goal, then you will realize that it was worth it.  James Allen says:

“He who would accomplish little must sacrifice little. He who would achieve much must sacrifice much. And he who would attain highly must sacrifice greatly”

7. Give up the Toxic People: be successful

People with whom you spend the most time, add up to who you become. There are different kinds of people. Some are more ambitious, some are average and others may be less ambitious. It all depends on you with whom you like to spend your time. If you spend most of your time with the ones that are less ambitious then your success rate will go down.

But if you spend your quality time with people who are more ambitious and advanced than you, then you will see how your success rate increases and you will be successful. Jim Rohn once said:

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”

8. Give up Your Dependency on Social Media:

“The trouble is, you think you have time”- Jack Kornfield

Watching television or scrolling through your social media applications is one of the worst diseases of today’s society. You are just stuck with your mobile phones all the time without considering that these colorful pictures and the glamorous world is distracting you from your goal, i.e. the goal to be successful in life, the goal to do something meaningful in your life.

You cannot eliminate social media, television or browsing from your life but at least you can minimize your dependency on them. Try to direct that time in something useful, such as do anything that will push you closer to your target.

These are the habits that you must give up if you want a successful life. You must be organized, keep detailed records of everything, analyze your competition, and most importantly be creative and stay focused in order to be successful. Sometimes, success demands sacrifices from you, and in that case, you should be willing to do whatever it requires. By adopting these habits and by giving up some of the above mentioned, you will be able to lead a successful life.
